Cincinnati Metro Promotes Two in Transit Operations

Timothy “TJ” Thorn was recently promoted to director of Transit Operations at Metro. Shawn Donaghy was promoted to assistant director of Transit Operations.

These promotions are part of a restructuring of Metro’s Transit Operations management staff to better meet the needs of Metro’s employees and customers.

As director of Transit Operations, Thorn manages the delivery of fixed-route services to the community to ensure operational excellence. He oversees all transit operations' functions, including all operators, service delivery and quality, supervision, dispatching and support operations.

Thorn joined Metro as system safety director in February 2012. He has more than 25 years of experience in environmental health and safety within the manufacturing and transportation industries. Thorn also worked for more than three years at LexTran, where he held positions including assistant general manager and director of Risk Management and Special Projects. He attended Eastern Kentucky University where he studied Fire and Safety Engineering Technology.

As assistant director of Transit Operations, Donaghy is responsible for daily operations of Metro’s fixed-route divisions at the Queensgate and Bond Hill facilities, departmental finance, safety, and key performance metrics. He was most recently Fleet Manager. Donaghy has been with Metro since September 2010. He previously worked as Senior Operations Manager at CEVA Logistics and Area Supervisor at DHL Worldwide. He received his bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Northern Kentucky University.

Metro is a non-profit, tax-funded public service of the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority, providing about 17 million rides per year.
