The Orange County Transportation Authority will welcome 10 new members to the board of directors following appointments made by the City Selection Committee of Orange County.

The Orange County Transportation Authority will welcome 10 new members to the board of directors following appointments made by the City Selection Committee of Orange County.

The new directors will be sworn in next month and in January as the current board members terms of office expire. OCTA’s 17-member board is comprised of the five county supervisors, two representatives from cities in each of the five supervisorial districts and two public members appointed by the board. In addition, the Caltrans director from Orange County serves as the 18th member in an ex-officio capacity.

Formed in 1991 by the consolidation of seven separate transportation agencies, OCTA has a $1.1 billion budget and leads the development and implementation of transportation programs for Orange County. OCTA is responsible for highway, street and rail planning and development, administration of voter-approved Measure M transportation funds and operation of Orange County’s bus system, paratransit service, the 91 Express Lanes, taxi cab administration and the Freeway Service Patrol.

Comprised of Orange County mayors, the City Selection Committee made the appointments at its meeting Nov. 15.

The following members were appointed to the board of directors:

• Garden Grove Councilman Steve Jones was selected to serve in the First District seat, currently held by Director Bill Dalton. This appointment is to fill the current term of Dalton, who is termed out of office in 2012. The term will expire in December 2013.

• Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido of Santa Ana was reappointed to serve in the First District seat. This term is for two years, from January 2013 through December 2014.

• Seal Beach Mayor Pro Tem Gary Miller was selected to serve in the Second District seat, currently held by Director Larry Crandall. This term is for two years, from January 2013 through December 2014.

• Huntington Beach Councilman Matt Harper was selected to serve in the Second District seat, currently held by Director Don Hansen. This appointment is to fill the current term of Hansen, who is termed out of office in 2012. The term will expire in December 2013.

• Tustin Mayor Pro Tem Al Murray was selected to serve in the Third District seat, currently held by Director Carolyn Cavecche. This appointment is to fill the current term of Cavecche, who is termed out of office in 2012. The term will expire in December 2013.

• Irvine Councilman Jeff Lalloway was selected to serve in the Third District seat, currently held by Director Jerry Amante. This term is for two years, from January 2013 through December 2014.

• La Habra Mayor Tim Shaw was selected to serve in the Fourth District seat, currently vacant. This term is for two years, from January 2013 through December 2014.

• Anaheim Councilwoman Gail Eastman was selected to serve in the Fourth District seat, currently held by Director Lorri Galloway. This appointment is to fill the current term of Galloway, who is termed out of office in 2012. The term will expire in December 2013.

• San Clemente Councilwoman Lori Donchak was selected to serve in the Fifth District seat, currently held by Director Peter Herzog. This term is for two years, from January 2013 through December 2014.

• Mission Viejo Mayor Frank Ury was selected to serve in the Fifth District seat, currently held by Director Paul Glaab. This appointment is to fill the current term of Glaab, who is termed out of office in 2012. The term will expire in December 2013.
