Eric Meyerson Named New General Manager of Sioux Falls, S.D. Bus System

Meyerson will be responsible for handling contractual services and daily operations at First Transit's Sioux Falls location

The City of Sioux Falls and First Transit, Inc., the city's contractor to manage and operate Sioux Area Metro (SAM), has announced the appointment of First Transit's Eric Meyerson to general manager of the transit system. He began working for First Transit in 1985 as a senior consultant. In this position, Meyerson will be responsible for handling contractual services and daily operations at First Transit's Sioux Falls location. 

SAM provides public transportation services throughout the City of Sioux Falls with a fleet of 54 buses and paratransit vans. It transports more than 1.2 million passengers per year and employs more than 107 full and part-time drivers, mechanics and support personnel.

Meyerson received his Bachelor's degree from the University of California where he majored in political science and public service. He was appointed by Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe to the state's Public Transportation Coordinating Council and was a former board member of the New England Public Transportation Association (NEPTA).
