New Sun Governor Bus Shelter Expands Duo-Gard's Line

Design specifically geared for shading and sun control, as well as rain and snow protection

Duo-Gard's latest addition to its standard bus stop shelter line features a design specifically geared for shading and sun control, as well as rain and snow protection. Named the Sun Governor, this shelter has a straight-brow roofline and post-and-panel construction.

The 5'x12' shelter's glass sidewalls presented a challenge with their exposed edges. Duo-Gard designers wrapped the walls in a tubular steel pipe frame, eliminating any exposed edges while maintaining the European design.

The roof is independent and attached with steel sleeves that slip into the columns. The angle of the roof, with its monolithic translucent polycarbonate glazing, governs the sun and creates shade within the shelter. Options are available for different roof styles, including curved and various flat roof styles, battens, and roof glazings in multiwall polycarbonate. The shelter is engineered for high snow loads and wind loads up to 100 mph. Slight modifications can bring this shelter into compliance with the most stringent coastal hurricane loading requirements.

"The Sun Governor model is another important expansion of the standard shelter models Duo-Gard offers to meet our customers' requirements," said Kevin Chown, transit sales manager. "The design is modular, expandable and can accomodate different roof styles for varying aesthetics."

Sun Governor joins Duo-Gard's extensive line of styles for standard and custom passenger shelters, bike shelters, canopies and special-purpose structures.
