IndyGo announced that after a competitive search Mark Emmons has been selected as the new director of Safety, Training and Security at IndyGo.

As the director, Mark Emmons' responsibilities include the coordination and management of the organization's safety initiatives, emergency protocols and preparedness. This position also oversees the vehicle accident program, the drug and alcohol program, FTA and OSHA safety compliance, security operations and contractor auditing.

In addition, Emmons oversees the professional coach operator training academy. At least three times a year, new operators are trained for up to the eight weeks before driving routes. Training covers a wide variety of topics, including defensive driving, accident prevention and reporting, emergency procedures and customer service. On average, more than 60 trainees graduate from the training program on an annual basis.

"Mark is ideally suited for this promotion," said Trevor Ocock, vice president and COO of IndyGo. "I am confident that his exceptional expertise and determination will result in outstanding leadership in every respect."

Emmons has been with IndyGo for more than 14 years in numerous roles within the organization. He began his career as a Transportation Supervisor and has worked in a variety of positions, most recently as the Risk & Security Manager in the Operations Division. Emmons was a lead participant in the Transportation Security Administration's Baseline Assessment for Security Enhancement (BASE) in which IndyGo will be awarded TSA's highest rating of "Gold Standard" for a high caliber performance and a strong security program this April. IndyGo will be one of only 17 agencies nationwide to receive this award.
