Cincinnati Metro Names New Systems Safety Director

Timothy “TJ” Thorn was named as Metro’s new system safety director. In this role, he will lead and manage the industrial hygiene, environmental and safety programs within the organization.

Timothy “TJ” Thorn was named as Metro’s new system safety director. In this role, he will lead and manage the industrial hygiene, environmental and safety programs within the organization.

Thorn has more than 25 years of experience in environmental health and safety within the manufacturing and transportation industries. He was previously with Pilkington North America, an automotive supplier in Versailles, Ky., where he held the position of Environment Health and Safety group leader. Thorn also worked for more than three years at LexTran, where he held positions including assistant general manager and director of risk management and special projects. For more than 17 years, he was the EHS manager/industrial dngineer for Hoover Wire Products where he managed the health and safety program.

Thorn is a board certified Occupational Health and Safety Technologist. He will receive his bachelor’s degree in fire and safety engineering from Eastern Kentucky University in December 2012.

He currently resides in Georgetown, Ky., with his wife of 27 years, Melissa, and their three sons: Trevor, Lincoln and Carson.

Metro is a non-profit, tax-funded public service of the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority, providing about 17 million rides per year in Greater Cincinnati.
