The city of Greensboro Public Transportation Manager Elizabeth G. "Libby" James, who oversees Greensboro Transit Authority, was awarded on Thursday, December 8 "Public Official of the Year" by the North Carolina Triangle Chapter of the US Green Building Council. This recognition was made due primarily to James' oversight of the new 66,000 square foot GTA Operations/Maintenance Facility and Administrative Offices. Due for completion by December 31, the multi-level green facility was constructed with the goal of meeting the qualifications for LEED Gold Status, the first for a Greensboro public municipal building. The project is partially funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
