Salvatore Caccavale Joins Safety Department of First Transit

Salvatore Caccavale, CHMM, CPEA, has joined First Transit as vice president of safety. In this role, he will be responsible for the development, recommendation and implementation of safety programs, policies and procedures for the organization, as well as ensuring compliance with its safety practices. Caccavale joins First Transit with more than 20 years of service in safety leadership for companies such as BASF Corporation and A.M. Castle & Co. Most recently, he served as the corporate director of Tradebe Environmental Services, LLC.

“Safety is the core value of our organization, and it is something that we take very seriously,” said Brad Thomas, president, First Transit and First Vehicle Services. “Salvatore’s experience will be a benefit to our safety department and provide fresh and new ideas. We are pleased to have him in this role and look forward to a successful start.”

According to Caccavale, he is eager to begin work and looks forward to enhancing the business.

“I am pleased to have become a member of this team and excited about the many possibilities within the organization,” Caccavale said. “I look forward to this new challenge and using my experience and knowledge to make a positive impact in the department.”

Caccavale has taught on the topics of environmental technology and regulations, having conducted workshops for numerous organizations, including the National Safety Council (NCS) and at industry related events since 2002. He serves on editorial boards for the NSC’s Safety and Health magazine and the American Society of Safety Engineers’ Professional Safety publication. Caccavale is also the author or A Basic Guide to RCRA – Understanding Solid and Hazardous Waste Management.
