OH: Lucas County Communities to Take up TARTA Sales-Tax Proposal

The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority soon will learn if its proposal to expand to cover all of Lucas County — and replace the two property levies that are its largest local revenue source with a 0.4 percent sales tax — will get on the Nov. 6 ballot

The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority soon will learn if its proposal to expand to cover all of Lucas County — and replace the two property levies that are its largest local revenue source with a 0.4 percent sales tax — will get on the Nov. 6 election ballot.

James Gee, the transit authority’s general manager, said he expects Ottawa Hills to take up a resolution allowing Lucas County to become a TARTA member first, when it meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

The Sylvania and Maumee city councils, which both heard TARTA presentations last month, next meet July 16, and Mr. Gee said he believes those bodies will take action on the transit resolutions.
