It looks like it's the end of the road for Bruce Peninsula Transit's regular busing service.

It looks like it's the end of the road for Bruce Peninsula Transit's regular busing service.

Manager Jeff Leonard said the privately owned company loses about $9,400 a month operating the system, which includes stops from Neyaashiinigmiing to Wiarton to Owen Sound.

And without municipal, county or other government funding, Leonard said he has no choice but to cease operations June 1.

Leonard said most of the system's passengers are elderly, unable to drive or cannot afford a vehicle. Many take the bus to get to medical appointments, the Owen Sound hospital or less expensive places to shop, such as certain grocery and big box stores in Owen Sound.
