IN: Indianapolis Public Schools Rolls Out Public Transit Pilot for Shortridge Students

Indianapolis Public Schools are rolling out a new public transit pilot program aimed at cutting costs for the district. If it's successful, IPS officials say they'd eventually like to do away with yellow bus service for high schools.

Indianapolis Public Schools are rolling out a new public transit pilot program aimed at cutting costs for the district. If it's successful, IPS officials say they'd eventually like to do away with yellow bus service for high schools. 

The partnership will start with a two-month pilot program at Shortridge High School. As an alternative to district-provided transportation, Shortridge students will be given IndyGo bus passes to use for the months of May and August.

The program is optional and students will still have access to yellow bus transportation, during the pilot.
