A New York woman who suffered severe facial injuries after a NJ Transit train crashed into Hoboken Terminal in 2016 is the first passenger to settle a lawsuit against that railroad and Metro North, according to her attorney.

The crash killed a woman who was walking through the station and injured 110 people. The train sped up to 21 mph, twice the posted 10 mph speed limit as it entered the station.

The case was settled on April 10, for $475,000, before a trial was scheduled, said the woman's attorney, Christopher L. Musmanno of Einhorn Harris in Denville.
