Athens Transit recently put 10 of its 12 new buses into service.
And if that wasn’t good enough news for patrons and drivers, the new coaches will also be less taxing on the environment and, in the long run, more cost-efficient to operate and maintain.
Supplied with state and federal grants, and local salex-tax funding, Athens Transit purchased the 12 low-emission diesel hybrid buses for $8.4 million and the full fleet will be on the road by Friday, said department director Butch McDuffie.
