Ex-NJ Transit Driver Sentenced to Probation in Passaic Pedestrian Death, Report Says

A former NJ Transit bus driver was sentenced Friday to three years probation for striking and killing a pedestrian with her bus in Passaic in 2012.

A former NJ Transit bus driver was sentenced Friday to three years probation for striking and killing a pedestrian with her bus in Passaic in 2012. Collier ran a red light before striking Currier, authorities say. She had worked for NJ Transit for 25 years and left the agency in December 2013.

Catherine Collier, 67, must also perform 150 hours of community service educating young adults about safe driving. She pleaded guilty to a fourth-degree charge of assault by auto in the death of Joseph Currier, 49, of Passaic. Collier apologized Currier's mother in court.
