CA: Transit Agency Recruiting Students for Youth Council

Sept. 02--VENTURA, Calif. -- The Ventura County Transportation Commission is recruiting students to join its teen council for the 2014-15 school year.

The council gives a voice to area youth in transportation issues, said commission Executive Director Darren Kettle.

"Teen Council is a great way for students to make a difference within their communities," he said.

Applicants must be residents of Ventura County at the start of the school year, ages 13-19, and in grades 8-12 or their first year of college.

Applications are available online at http://www.goventura.org and must be submitted by 5 p.m. Oct. 1 with a letter of recommendation from an adult authority figure such as a teacher, a counselor or a coach.
