PA: Tentative Contract Agreement Reached Between Capital Area Transit, Drivers

Aug. 20--Capital Area Transit and the union announced Tuesday that a tentative contract agreement has been reached that will avoid arbitration.

"We have reached an agreement in principle pending approval by the CAT board of directors and the full union membership," said Bill Jones, CAT general manager.

"Contract details will not be discussed until the tentative agreement has been approved by both parties," said John Keller, president of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1436. The old contract expired June 30, 2013.

CAT and the union were headed to arbitration in September to settle a new contract. While the CAT board approved an interim contract March 11, it was never ratified by the union membership. CAT will release more information after the contract is signed, Jones said.
