The Regional Transportation Authority board is expected to name Leanne Redden, the agency's top planning official, as acting executive director, the Tribune learned today.
A resolution calling for Redden's appointment is expected to come before the RTA's board at its meeting Wednesday.
Redden is currently the senior executive deputy director of planning. If approved, she would take over March 1.
Redden would replace Joseph Costello, whose resignation was announced Tuesday.
Redden has served as senior deputy executive director of planning since November 2005, according to an agency biography. She has been instrumental in developing strategic long range planning initiatives for the region's transit system and was a key player in the 2008 funding reform legislation, the RTA said.
From 2003 through 2005, Redden was the chief of planning at the Illinois Tollway, where she helped develop Open Road Tolling. Prior to that, she was the director of transportation for the village of Schaumburg.
