As of mid-afternoon Wednesday, Metro Transit workers were still trying to make repairs to the light-rail system delayed during the morning rush by fallen power lines.
Workers hoped to get the power at least partially restored by the evening rush, according to Metro spokeswoman Patti Beck. But passengers should be prepared to face delays of about 35 minutes.
The problem, which happened at about 6:30 a.m., was on the Missouri side of the river between the North Hanley and Wellston stations on the Red Line. According to Metro Transit, buses were being used to transport riders across the part of the route affected by the outage.
There was no immediate word about what caused the overhead lines that power the trains to fall. Two trains were stranded by the outage. But all passengers onboard were removed safely.
