April 19--With the help of a Good Samaritan, Forest Park Police today captured a suspected CTA robber and recovered a stolen gold chain — now all they need is a victim.

About 1:10 p.m. today a third-party caller reported a robbery on a CTA Blue Line train near the Forest Park stop, but when police arrived they couldn't find a suspect or a victim.

But moments later they responded to a call about a fight in a back yard nearby on the 500 block of Marengo Avenue, where a witness who had seen a man snatch a gold chain from a woman's neck was wrestling with a suspect, Forest Park Police said in a release.

The gold chain was recovered and the suspect, who also had an active warrant for retail theft, was arrested, police said.

However, police were not able to track down the woman whose chain was stolen, and they don't have a good description of her.

Other witnesses said she remained on the inbound Blue Line train, possibly exiting at the Jackson Street stop in Chicago, police said.

Forest Park Police ask anyone who witnessed the robbery or might know the victim to call 708-366-2425.

And ma'am, police have your gold chain if you'd like to claim it.
