Congresswoman Shelley Berkley today announced that the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada will receive a $1.75 million grant from the Department of Transportation's State of Good Repair Program.

"The RTC provides vital public transportation services for workers, families and visitors to Southern Nevada and this grant will be used to help upgrade maintenance and control facilities that help to keep our local bus service safe and reliable. The expansion of the bus facility will provide employment opportunities at a time when our community is in need of more jobs. I am proud to have supported funding for the addition of new bus rapid transit routes in Southern Nevada and for the additional equipment and facilities needed to further enhance this key piece of our local transit system," said Berkley.

The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Southern Nevada will use these funds to provide needed improvements to the Integrated Bus Maintenance Facility of the RTC. This 36-acre facility serves as one of two major maintenance locations and the central control for operations. The improvements for this project include security upgrades, roof replacement/repair, vehicle lift replacement, pavement repairs, and heating and air conditioning replacement.
