WA: King County Council Tables Car Tabs Vote

SEATTLE, Wash.

The King County Council decided Monday night to postpone a vote on car tabs to save Metro Transit bus runs, despite having scheduled a vote on what action to take.

.

After a recess, council members returned and said they won't take a vote until August 15 -- just days before the deadline to add items to the ballot.

Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer had asked for the 20-minute recess to investigate "

new information that had just come to him

," seattlepi.com reported. It isn't known what that information is.

The new vote is scheduled one day before the deadline for placing items on the November ballot: August 16.
