A Brampton Transit driver called 911 after finding the severely burned 49-year-old male on Glidden Road near Heart Lake Road- an industrial area of the city.
The driver said the man was on the sidewalk, moaning in pain. He suffered third-degree burns to more than 90 per cent of his body.
The victim was rushed to Brampton Civic Hospital and later transferred to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, where he is now fighting for his life.
Peel Regional police brought police dogs to the scene to try to determine the man's whereabouts before he collapsed on the road, and were led to an unoccupied warehouse. Police believe the man was at the warehouse, which houses an electrical transformer, and somehow made contact with live power lines.
Investigators are trying to determine why the man entered the building and police say "it's somewhere where he shouldn't have been."
Foul play is not suspected, said police.
