MEMPHIS - Memphis transit authorities say witnesses to a trolley crash claim that bystanders attempted to board the trolley and fake injuries after the crash.

A power loss on the trolley line Wednesday caused one car to careen into another and six people were taken to the hospital, although only the trolley operator was admitted. Memphis Area Transit Authority spokeswoman Allison Burton told The Commercial Appeal that witnesses saw at least eight people run at the trolleys following the wreck. Onboard security personnel told onlookers to stay back, Burton said, but the door of the second trolley was forced open and at least two people boarded. - Staff and wire reports
