A man pulled a pocket knife on a 3-year-old boy riding a Metro Transit bus on Monday afternoon and threatened to cut the boy's finger, according to police and the boy's mother.

The boy, seated on his mother's lap and sitting next to the man, was terrified, said his mother, Keaundra Johnson, 20.

A witness called police, and the man exited the bus. Police arrested a suspect a short distance away. The 45-year-old Minneapolis man was booked into the Hennepin County Jail on probable cause assault.

Johnson said she had no idea why the man pulled out the knife. A frequent rider of the bus, she said her son was scared to ride with her on Tuesday.
