Proterra

Catalyst E2 Transit Vehicle

Designed from the start as an exclusively electric vehicle, the Catalyst E2 delivers exceptional route flexibility and proven operational performance. Made with an advanced carbon-fiber-reinforced body and the market’s highest-efficiency electric drivetrain, the Catalyst bus is designed to safely and quietly endure nearly two decades of on-road service, with minimal maintenance required.

Its nominal range of 194 - 350 miles means the Catalyst E2 series is capable of serving the full daily mileage needs of nearly every U.S. mass transit route on a single charge and offers the transit industry the first direct replacement for fossil-fueled transit vehicles. And without costs like oil changes, engine maintenance, and exhaust systems, maintenance savings can add up to $237,000 over the lifetime of a Catalyst compared to a diesel-hybrid bus, and up to $151,000 compared to diesel. Additionally, customers have the potential to achieve over $450,000 in total operational savings on fuel and maintenance over 12 years.

The Catalyst E2 has 440 kWh of on-board energy, recharges in roughly 3 hours via plug in charging, and has a curb weight of 31,690 pounds. It is available in a 35 or 40 foot sizes. It reaches a top speed of 65 mph, and accelerates from 0 to 20 mph in 4.5 seconds. Proterra offers a modular, technology-centric approach to vehicle configuration so customers can choose from two vehicle sizes and can select their energy level, as well as charging solutions to meet the needs of their specific routes.
