Video Management ♦ Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority
Video management is the new face of public transit, said MBTA Director of Security Initiatives Randy Clarke. An issue the MBTA faced, he said, was how to add technology effectively and how to integrate video. Using their own program and proprietary technology is forcing the vendors to work together. He stressed they are trying to make it an equal situation, working together.
The Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) system provides all of the necessary tools for situation management and awareness. All alarms, videos, all of the sub-systems need to all work together as a whole. Clarke had a video demo of their system and stressed there needs to be consistent responses to behavior.
