The event coincided with APTA’s Legislative Conference and commemorated Women’s History Month.

Latinos In Transit (LIT) hosted another successful event March 15, with more than 100 attendees participating in LIT’s Viva la Mujer function.

The event was held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel and coincided with the American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C. The theme, Viva la Mujer, was chosen to commemorate Women’s History Month.

Among the attendees were APTA Chair Jeffrey Nelson, Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Administrator Nuria Fernandez and Senior FTA Advisor Veronica Vanterpool and Latinos In Transit leadership. LIT President Alva Carrasco provided remarks to the capacity-filled room and thanked everyone for making the night such a success in honor of Women’s History month.

“Based on the diverse number of attendees from the public and private sector and the inspiring words from FTA Administrator Fernandez, LIT anticipates hosting this event again next year to provide our current and prospective members a terrific opportunity to network with industry leaders,” said LIT Board Member Oscar J. Gonzalez, who also helped organize this year’s event.

In addition to attendees, the event would not have been possible without the support from LIT’s generous sponsors, including MV Transportation, LIT’s founding sponsor; Raul V Bravo & Associates, a local sponsor; and the APTA Small Business Committee.
