TAPS Public Transit Launches 'Moving Forward' Initiative

Sept. 29, 2015

TAPS Public Transit (Texoma Area Paratransit System) interim CEO and Executive Director Tim Patton is moving quickly to get the regional public transportation agency headed in the right direction. Patton says his team will be aggressive in stabilizing the agency in the face of budget and operational issues, over the last 12 months.

Patton is launching his “Moving Forward Initiative: Purpose. Commitment. Transparency,” a comprehensive plan to be more efficient, improve overall operations, and reclaim a legacy of conscientious customer service.

“Next year is our 30th anniversary in North Texas. Over that three decades, we’ve had our ups and downs, but it has always been our mission to provide a dependable public transportation service for the communities we serve,” said Patton.

“It’s a new day at TAPS. Everyone in this agency is dedicated to fixing the problems we have and getting back to our roots as an organization that delivers a high level of service. Good service is in our DNA; we just have to get back to basics.” Patton said stakeholders and governmental entities are being supportive during the transition in leadership.

Patton said the initiative is more than a slogan. It’s a mission statement that embodies the agency’s recognition that big changes need to be made, including a focus on getting back to sustainable service levels, rather than growth.

“Over the next couple of weeks, we will be laying out a roadmap to get our finances in order and get operations back to where they need to be,” said Patton. “That doesn’t mean increasing service, but living within our means. That’s the best plan for the agency, its customers, and other stakeholders.”
