Allentown Student Participates in Transportation Summit

Aug. 20, 2015

Damien Ganchoso, a rising junior at Allentown Central Catholic High School, participated in the Fourth Biennial Youth Summit offered by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) in Washington, D.C. He was sponsored by Lehigh and Northampton Transportation Authority (LANta).

One of only 50 students chosen nationally for the week-long summit, Ganchoso experienced the role public transit plays in the life of the communities it serves. Participants met with national lawmakers and other government leaders, visited transit facilities, and examined career possibilities in transportation.

"LANta was pleased to sponsor Damien's experience in the nation's capital,' said Owen P. O'Neil, executive director. 'Building the next generation is a key priority for APTA members as the young men and women discover the important role public transportation plays in our daily lives," he added.

Ganchoso is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Juan Ganchoso of Allentown.
