Ohio Gratings, Inc., has acquired the rights to market and manufacture ALGRIP® slip-resistant flooring products.

The company purchased the patented ALGRIP technology and its related manufacturing equipment from Ross Technology, based in Leola, Penn., for an undisclosed amount.

The ALGRIP surface can be applied for additional traction on metal bar grating, stair treads and plating made from carbon steel, stainless steel or aluminum. The flooring can be used in a variety of applications including stairs, public walkways, production line floors, machinery platforms and other walking surfaces.

“ALGRIP is a name that is known in our industry for improving the traction of metal flooring in slippery conditions,” said John Bartley, president and CEO of Ohio Gratings. “This acquisition will allow us to offer ALGRIP technology across the full Ohio Gratings product line, enhancing the safety of workplaces and pedestrian walkways for our customers, and rounding out our offering of safety-related solutions.”

ALGRIP uses a patented CNC welding fabrication process to deposit more than 1,000 slip-resistant nodules per square foot on a variety of metal surfaces. The laser- welding process results in slip-resistant commercial metal flooring with a permanently bonded non-slip surface.

The product complements Ohio Gratings’ existing safety-focused products, including its OnGrip™spray traction surface and ADA-compliant walkways. As part of the acquisition, the equipment necessary to produce the ALGRIP traction surface will be relocated to the company’s Canton, Ohio, manufacturing facility.

“Adding ALGRIP to our growing product portfolio is an investment in the future of Ohio Gratings,” said Bartley. “As our company celebrates its 50th anniversary, we continue to bring new products to market that meet the changing needs of our customers and position us a step ahead in the industry.”

Ohio Gratings products featuring ALGRIP slip-resistant surfaces are currently available for order.
