DART promotes Costello to CFO

Joe Costello has been selected to fill the role of chief financial officer.

The Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) named Joe Costello as its next chief financial officer.

Costello will be responsible for providing the agency’s strategic and financial planning, budgeting, debt financing, treasury, funds management, revenue administration and collection, grants management, accounting and risk management. 

An employee since 2014, he came to DART from the Regional Transportation Authority of Northeastern Illinois where he worked as chief financial officer and then executive director. Previously he held several financial positions with three multinational firms after starting his career at Price Waterhouse. 

Costello is a reviewer for the Government Finance Officers Association Distinguished Budget Award program and was formerly on the executive board. He also chairs the Transit Finance Learning Exchange and was vice chair of the Financial Management Committee of the American Public Transportation Association.

Costello holds an MBA from the University of Chicago, a bachelor’s in accounting from the University of Illinois, a CPA certificate and the government equivalent of a Certified Public Finance Officer.
