TTC reaches tentative agreement with CUPE Local 2 union

The agreement comes after the original agreement expired in 2022 and features increased wages for TTC workers.

The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) and workers represented by CUPE Local 2 have reached a tentative agreement.  

“This tentative agreement is a significant win for our members, reinforcing our commitment to their well-being and the safety of all Torontonians,” said Sumit Guleria, president of CUPE Local 2. “The negotiated wages will provide much needed relief from the rising cost of living, helping our workers cope with increasing expenses and ensuring a fair standard of living for themselves and their families.” 

The union will not disclose specific details of the tentative settlement until CUPE Local 2 members have had the opportunity to review its contents and vote on the agreement. 

“I am extremely pleased that we’ve been able to reach a tentative agreement with CUPE Local 2 and avoid any job action and service disruptions. This is a fair deal that is affordable for the TTC and respectful of the important work the 650 members of CUPE Local 2 do every day to keep our system safe and our service reliable. As the agreement still needs to be ratified by the union membership and the TTC Board, we cannot share details at this time. I want to thank the TTC Board for its guidance and leadership, as well as members of both bargaining teams for their hard work to reach this agreement without any negative impact on TTC customers,” said TTC CEO Rick Leary. 

CUPE Local 2 represents more than 650 electricals and trades workers at the TTC. Their collective agreement expired on April 22, 2022.
